We’d love to spend the day with you working in the garden, sharing the history of this space, and making a difference.

We strive to participate in building a healthier food system that provides equitable access to nutritious food. We believe that good food IS the basis for good health, and that both are human rights. We are growing food to help feed our community, and to teach about where our food comes from. We depend on volunteers to help make that happen.

Individual Volunteers

Corporate Volunteers

Join us on the farm and in the garden for a day or foraging and fun! Schedule your CORPORATE, CIVIC OR CHURCH GROUP to do some TEAM BUILDING in the garden.

Email Tamara@overlookfarmrutland.org to schedule.

Volunteers will participate in helping Overlook in their 3000 square foot garden to help grow and harvest produce to distribute to local food pantries. In 2024, we distributed 3,268 pounds of fresh, delicious vegetables to those that do not always have access to this nutritional benefit.

Things you might be doing:

Mulching, composting, weeding, organizing spaces, moving farm equipment, raking, planting, watering, painting, harvesting, or any items that need to be completed to prep and nurture the garden.

Things you should know:

Dress appropriately for the weather. We work rain or shine! We do have bugs and critters, as it is a farm, so we recommend wearing long pants and socks, boots or waterproof shoes (especially if it has rained recently), long sleeves or garden sleeves, gloves, and a hat.

There is a managed bee colony on site. If you have an allergy, please bring your epi-pen and make us aware.

It’s always nice to take pics and post them on socials. Make us aware if you are not comfortable with this.

What to bring:

Bring a lunch for our break and a water bottle. You can also checkout our WISH LIST and bring items if you can. We are a non-profit and depend on donations to thrive!!

Wish List — Overlook FARM

We will dig in the dirt, have fun and make memories with your team. We will also assign tasks based on ability and desire!!
